Pictured is one of seven carved stone shields at the top of the stained glass windows outside of Christ the King Catholic Church in Dallas, Texas. Each shield shows the crown of Christ the King and the palms of victory. In the center is a sponge on a reed and a lance. The sponge represents the one which was soaked in common wine and put on a reed and offered to our Lord to drink just before he died on the cross. The lance was used by the soldier to pierce Christ`s side to make certain he was dead.
