Meir Kahane makes an emphatic point during a speech in Jerusalem on April 27, 1986. An immigrant from Brooklyn, Kahane was an orthodox rabbi and organizer of the controversial Jewish Defense League, JDL, as a polarizing crime-fighter in Brooklyn`s orthodox Jewish community. He moved to Israel and founded the Kach Party which was eventually outlawed as an extremist and anti-democratic party because pf its extremist views, supporting expulsion of Arabs from Israel and the West Bank. He was assassinated in Manhattan at age 58 in 1990. |
