| A marked historical and nature trail leads to the old cemetery in the upper San valley. Currently, it is the area of ??the Bieszczady National Park. The cemetery and the site of the Orthodox church in Beniowa are located in the lower part of the village, surrounded by old trees. The first mention of an Orthodox church in this place dates back to 1589. The legend of a local robber, Oleksy Dowbush, is associated with this place, and he allegedly hid his consecrated knife in this church. The next Orthodox church was built here in 1779, it was a branch Greek Catholic church of St. Saint Michael the Archangel. The temple was wooden and represented the Boyko type of church. It was demolished around 1926. The last Orthodox church in Beniowa was built in 1909, south of the previous one. Architecturally, it was similar to the church in Bystre near Czarna, which still exists today. |
