Yitzhak Rabin addresses a gathering in Jerusalem in 1988. At this point he was Israel`s Defense Ministe. Four years later he won the national election as head of the Labor Party and began his second tour as Prime Minister; the first being from 1974-1977. A former Israel Defense Forces head, Parliamentarian, Palmach veteran, and winner of the Nobel Peace Prize together with Shimon Peres, and Yasser Arafat, Rabin was assassinated during a heated and bitter re-election campaign, at the close of a peace rally in Tel Aviv, dying November 4, 1995 at the age of 73. |
