Yitzhak Rabin photographed with his aides, applying breath spray at the King David Hotel in Jerusalem, Israel, on June 17, 1992. He was preparing to meet with Mikhail Gorbachev. Six days later, as head of the Labor Party, he was elected Prime Minister of Israel. This was Rabin's second tour as PM, the first being from 1974-1977. A former Israel Defense Forces head, Minister of Defense, Parliamentarian, Palmach veteran, and winner of the Nobel Peace Prize (together with Shimon Peres, and Yasser Arafat), Rabin was assassinated during a heated and bitter re-election campaign, at the close of a peace rally in Tel Aviv, dying November 4, 1995 at the age of 73.
