Yak grazes on the green pasture Maoya Prairie is located in the west of Litang County, Ganzi Prefecture, Sichuan Province, surrounded by mountains and lush grasslands like the sea. As one of the largest natural pastures in the Kham region, the Maoya Grassland was named as one of the six most beautiful grasslands in China by National Geographic magazine in 2005. Litang means `flat as a bronze mirror` in Tibetan. `Caoba` is also named after the Maoya Prairie. Geographically, the Maoya Prairie is the largest mountain grassland in the Shaluli Mountains.
