Pictured is `The Winged Ox`, a bronze sculpture by Henry Weber Mitchell, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It is located near Orlowitz Residence Hall, Thomas Jefferson University. Mitchell chose the Christian symbol of St. Luke the physician to commemorate great healers whose names are inscribed below it on the 16 ½ -foot column. He included five Jeffersonians among those celebrated medical men and women. Henry Weber Mitchell 1915-1980 was a sculptor living at the time in Locarno, Switzerland.
