This statue was built in the year 1528 A.D. during the rule of Krishnadevaraya, one of the greatest rulers of the Vijayanagara Empire. The gigantic statue was vandalized and mutilated in 1565 A.D. during the raid by the Deccan Sultanates that led to the fall of the Vijayanagara Empire. Statue is with blue sky and trees in background. Narasimha is a Hindu God and it is believed to be avatar of Vishnu. Narasimha has lion's head and human body. |
