The parish indulgence is the patronal feast of the parish church. In the first centuries, Christians did not build churches for worship. The Eucharist was celebrated in private homes, which were called Domus Ecclesiae, or House Churches. From the 4th century, after gaining freedom, churches began to be built. These were primarily basilicas and the so-called aedicula - a small building, church or in Greek tropaion - a sign of victory. The latter were erected on graves or in places of martyrdom of Christians. Over time, small monuments and altars became church buildings. The choice of place was not accidental. Churches were built in places where there was a cult of saints, especially martyrs. Thanks to this, churches received their patron saints
