| One of the older and more famous monasteries in Romania, Lainici is a the first landmark one can find in his way from Wallachia to Transylvania, deep in the local mountains, and on the shores of Jiu river. It has a long history and two main churches. This is the old one. It is more of a cathedral than a church. Notice the wonderful mural painting and the curled columns. |
