Entrance to Temple of Lord Brihadeshwara, with its beautifically carved images of Gods & Goddesses. Commonly known as the Big Temple, it is dedicated to the Hindu Deity, Lord Shiva and is located in Thanjavur in the state of Tamilnadu, India. It was completed around 1010 AD, during the reign of Raja Raja Cholan, of the Cholan dynasty of Tamil kings. It took several years to complete, moving the huge granite blocks, weighing several tons, into place and is considered a masterpiece of engineering and architecture.
