Otherwise known as the Big Temple, it is dedicated to the Hindu Deity Lord Shiva and is located in Thanjavur in the state of Tamilnadu, India. Over 1000 years old, this Temple was completed in 1010 AD, during the reign of Raja Raja Cholan, of the Cholan dynasty of Tamil kings. It took several years to build, moving the huge granite blocks, weighing several tons and is considered a masterpiece of engineering and architecture. Seen in the picture is the entrance tower, with its magnificent carvings of Hindu Gods & Goddesses. A well laid out garden in the foreground and the main Temple tower in the background completes the picture.Picture taken on September 02, 2012, at 04.20 PM, using a Canon DSLR EOS 550D, focal length 18mm, f/9, shutter speed 1/80 sec.
