A cereal grain, also known as a caryopsis, has a unique structure consisting of three main parts: the endosperm, germ, and bran. The endosperm is the largest part and provides carbohydrates and proteins for the developing plant embryo. The germ is the embryo itself, containing essential oils, vitamins, and minerals. Lastly, the bran is the outer layer that protects the grain and is rich in fiber and nutrients.
