Pictured is a sculpture featuring a gray marble bust of John Peter Smith on a Texas granite base by sculptor Llloyd Bowman. It is part of the public art collection of Fort Worth and is located downtown. It was created in 1906. He played a major role in the development of the city, helping to organize a bank, gas light company, and street railway. He also donated land for parks, cemeteries, and a hospital which was later named John Peter Smith Hospital. He served as the Mayor of Fort Worth in 1882. A Texas Historical Commission marker is near the statue.
