Ronald Reagan makes a dapper picture with a boutonniere in his lapel. The occasion was Reagan`s address before the Chicago Council on Foreign Relations on St. Patrick`s Day, March 17, 1980. At the time, the former movie actor and two-term California governor was running for the Republican Party nomination for president. His closest competitor was George HW Bush. Reagan won that race and went on to become 40th president of the United States, winning two terms. In his final years he suffered from dementia, dying in Los Angeles on June 5, 2004 at the age of 93. |
