| A carousel is a children's attraction found in amusement parks or large outdoor areas, usually located in city center squares. In the oldest version, it consisted of a platform rotating on a vertical axis on which wooden horses were mounted, but also other kinds of animals such as dogs, cats, pigs and others, on whose saddles the children sat. A mechanical system often gave the sensation that the horse was galloping, recreated by the oscillation, longitudinally, of the horse itself. The more complex ones could have the horses arranged on several levels. |
