Paris (France). The Arc de Triomphe du Carrousel (1806-1808) is a triumphal arch situated into Place du Carrousel. It was commissioned (on the model of the Arch of Septimius Severus in Rome) by the Emperor Napoleon I to commemorate France’s military victories in 1805. Today it links the Louvre courtyard with the Jardin des Tuileries. Detail of the Quadriga on the top of the arch.
