Novodevichy Convent is probably the best-known cloister of Moscow. The Convent was established in 1524. In 2004 Novodevichy Convent was proclaimed a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Church of the Intercession of the Holy Virgin is located above the South gate of Novodevichy convent. Now the passage is closed and not in use. The Church was built in the late 17th century. Below there are three arches of the aisle in the ensemble of the Convent. Earlier, the South gate was the main. The way from Moscow to Smolensk started from this gate.
