The Lipovan Orthodox Old-Rite Cathedral was finished 1880 and was built by the Lipovans living in Braila at that time. Lipovans are Russian Old Believers who fled Russia in the late 17th early 18th centuries in order to escape the persecution of their faith. Braila is a city in Muntenia, eastern Romania and its the country’s second largest port on the Danube.
