The monument to the heroes of the First world war was opened in Moscow in honor of the 100 year anniversary of the outbreak of war. The monument consists of two elements. A bronze figure of a soldier is mounted on a high column. Sculpture is designed in the classical style. It shows Russian soldier who went through the war, honestly fulfilled his duty and became a knight of St. George. A roll coat is thrown over right shoulder of the soldier and three-line rifle known as MosinÃ¢â¬âNagant is thrown over right shoulder. The chest is decorated with St. George crosses. On the pedestal Ã¢â¬â George cross, covered with gold leaf.
