Pictured is the monument to Almeida Garrett in front of the City Hall of Porto, Portugal, in the General Humberto Delgado square at the top of Avenida dos Aliados. Garrett lived from 1799 to 1875. He was a writer, playwright, poet, politician and one of the greatest figures of Portuguese romanticism. The bronze sculpture by Salvador Barata Feyo was inaugurated on November 11, 1954, to mark the centenary of the poet`s death. |
