El Castillo, also known as the Pyramid of Kukulcan, is a step pyramid at Chichen Itza on the Yucatán Peninsula, Mexico. Constructed in limestone, it features a series of square terraces with stairways on each side leading to the top. A small temple sits at the pyramid's summit. Known for its astronomical significance, it aligns with the equinox, creating a serpent effect of light and shadow on its steps. The structure is surrounded by grassy land and a backdrop of lush vegetation under a partly cloudy sky.
