Pictured is a Texas Trail of Fame star honoring the author Larry McMurtry in the Fort Worth Stockyards in Texas. He was the winner of the Pulitzer Prize for Lonesome Dove, a novel loosely based on trail drivers Oliver Loving and Charles Goodnight. He is the author of twenty-seven novels, two collections of essays, three memoirs, more than thirty screenplays, and is the editor of an anthology of modern Western fiction. The Texas Trail of Fame was established in 1997 to honor those who have made a significant contribution to our Western way of life. Throughout the walkways of the Fort Worth National Historic District, bronze inlaid markers have been placed in honor of their achievements.
