Rome, Italy - April 6, 2025: The statue on Ponte Sant'Angelo depicting an angel that displays the cross is the work of Ercole Ferrata, and is one of the ten angel statues representing the instruments of the Passion of Christ. The inscription on its base reads "Cuius principatus super humerum eius," meaning "Whose leadership is upon his shoulders". The statues were commissioned by Pope Clement IX in the 17th century to enhance the bridge leading to Castel Sant'Angelo.
