Beautiful views in the Maldegemveld nature reserve near the droongengoed forest. A nature reserve in Knesselare and Maldegem in Belgium. The Maldegemveld is European protected as part of the Natura 2000 site. The landscape changed to an area of tree-rich heathland after a long period of overgrazing. Step by step, the balance is being restored. Among others, the area is home to the green sand beetle, various sand bees and butterflies. Salamanders and dragonflies live in the wet parts of the area. The viviparous lizard also lives in this area, as do roe deer, fallow deer and galloway cattle. A beautiful piece of Flemish nature.
