| The Little Mermaid is a bronze mermaid sculpture, located in the city of Copenhagen. Made by the Danish sculptor Edvard Eriksen, it is located on the Langelinie promenade, in the bay of the Port of Copenhagen, which flows into the Baltic Sea and also close to the royal palace of Amalienborg, on rocks that jut out into the sea. Today it is the most prominent symbol of the city. The Little Mermaid is one of the iconic statues that symbolize cities Others include: the Pania del Reef statue in Napier, Manneken Pis in Brussels, the Statue of Liberty in New York and Christ the Redeemer in Rio de Janeiro. |
