| Writer/playwright Terrence McNally and his husband, producer and lawyer Tom Kirdahy, arrive on the red carpet for the 2015 Tony Awards Meet the Nominees , Press Junket at the Diamond Horseshoe at the Paramount Hotel in midtown Manhattan on April 29, 2015. Prime attractions at the event are the nominees, named a day earlier for the Broadway theaterââ¬â¢s big awards production on June 7, 2015, at the Radio City Music Hall in New York City. McNally was nominated for writing the book for the musical 'The Visit.' The yellow shoes salute the play, referencing jealousy, envy and ostentation. McNally, a cancer survivor, suffered a chronic lung disease. He died on March24, 2020 from the coronavirus pandemic at the age of 81. |
