Steps leading to the holy shrine of Kedarnath. This sacred Hindu Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva, is located at an altitude of 3583 meters, in the Garhwal Himalayas of Uttarkhand. The Temple is open for a few months in summer and closed for the rest of the year, when the place becomes inaccessible due to extreme weather. Shops set up during the short summer sell a variety of goods to pilgrims who visit the Temple in large numbers. The snow covered Kedar Peak and Kedar Dome are seen in the background.
