Construction began in 1650 and was finished in 1685. New structures and decorative elements were added until 1949. The cathedral is dedicated to the Assumption of the Virgin Mary and Saint Reparata. It has been classified as a national monument since August 9th, 1906. The French name is Basilique-CathÃÂ©drale Sainte-Marie et Sainte-RÃÂ©parate de Nice
