Jean Marsh on Broadway in Manhattan in 1979, at age 45. The English theater, film, and television actress and writer greets fans outside the Trafalgar Theater on 41st Street following her performance in `Whose Life is it Anyway? ` Marsh is an Emmy winner for acting in the role of the parlor maid, Rose Buck, in the British period piece series, `Upstairs, Downstairs. ` As a writer she co-created the series and took home the Best Actress Emmy for portraying Rose. The much-loved series was broadcast in the USA on PBS from 1974-1977. Marsh died at her London home on April 13, 2025, from complications from dementia, at the age of 90.
