| Indian Lotus (Nelumbo nucifera) seeds from 10 to 30 in number, contained in each seed heads, are mostly oval or spherical, with sizes varying according to varieties. Seeds have brownish coat and they can remain viable after long periods of dormancy. After the seeds have been decorticated and peeled, they are edible and rich in nutrients and can be dried for storage. The plant is also known as sacred lotus, Bean of India, Egyptian bean, water lily or simply lotus, is one of two extant species of aquatic plant in the family Nelumbonaceae. |
