Hua Lamphong train station, also known as Bangkok railway station, is the former main hub for intercity and international train services in Thailand. It is located in the Pathum Wan district, in the center of Bangkok city. The station was opened in 1916 and has a distinctive Italian Neo-Renaissance architecture. It was connected to the MRT (metro) system by the Hua Lamphong MRT station, which lies beneath it. The station served as the terminus for all train lines, except for the line to Kanchanaburi, until 2023, when it was replaced by the new Krung Thep Aphiwat Central Terminal. The name Hua Lamphong has various origins, such as a species of plant, a plain where cattle grazed, or a mixture of Thai and Malay words meaning a temporary bridge.
