The Assumption of the Virgin Mary, historical monument - attested in 1177, is the oldest Orthodox monastery in Romania, with a continuous monastic life. It is located in Zădăreni, Arad county – Romania Tradition says the monastery came into being after a bull from a shepherd`s flock took the horn of the Mother of God`s Icon with the Child Jesus, a miracle-working icon. Exactly on that place, the faithful built a church, where even today the Icon remains.
