Herculane Baths (Latin: Aqua Herculis, German: Herkulesbad, Hungarian: Herkulesfürd?) is a town in Cara?-Severin County, Banat, Romania, consisting of the component localities of B?ile Herculane (the capital) and Pecini?ca. It has a population of 5,008 inhabitants. It is the oldest tourist resort in the country and also among the most important and visited permanent spa resorts in Romania and Eastern Europe. The millenary resort is mentioned in chronicles under the Latin name: "AD AQUAS HERCULIS SACRAS AD MEDIAM". Natural factors: intramontane depression climate, with sub-Mediterranean influences isothermal and hyperthermal mineral waters (38-60 °C), weakly radioactive, hypotonic, with different chemical compositions: sulfurous, chlorinated, calcium, sodium, chlorinated, sodium, calcium, oligomineral.
