The Maramures depression occupies 13% of the county`s surface, is of complex origin tectonics, dam, volcanic and differentiated erosion, has a general hilly level, at 750-800 m, through which flow the rivers Iza, Mara and Viseu separated by gorges cut into crystalline or conglomerates.
