This is a ruffled grouse in late October after the first snow fall near Yellowknife Northwest Territoties Canada. The bird is primarily grey in colour with white highlights and some brownish highlights around the neck. There is a slight glimmer in the far right corner of the bird`s eye. The feather patterns are clearly seen. The bird is walking in the snow with some gravel still seen on the ground. You can see the clear colours and highlights of the feather pattern on the tail. The photo was taken 56 km outside of Yellowknife Northwest Territories on the Ingraham Trail.
