| Jaffna, Sri Lanka - February 17, 2017: Two of the four gopuram towers of the Nallur Kandaswamy Kovil Hindu temple in Jaffna, Sri Lanka in the town of Nallur. The presiding deity is Lord Murugan. While the original temple was founded in 948, there have been numerous additions including as recently as 2015. The temple is a socially important institution for the Sri Lankan Tamils Hindu identity of north Sri Lanka as Sri Lanka is a majority Buddhist nation with Hindus forming a large minority. |
