The baboons in the background are attracted to the elephant dung which they sift for tasty morsels of fruit and seeds that have passed undigested through the elephant's digestive tract. Elephants are herbivorous and will eat as much as 660 pounds of leaves, twigs, fruit, bark, grass and roots a day. The binomial name is Loxodonta africana. The binomial name of the chacma baboon is Papio ursinus.
