Monastery Sinaia - Orthodox monastery in Romania. Founded in 1690–1695 by a nobleman, Mihai Kantakuzino, after his pilgrimage to St. Catherine’s Monastery on the Sinai Peninsula, in honor of which the monastery he created received his name. Later, the city that formed around the monastery - Sinai - became similarly named.
