| American actress, singer, cabaret star, and civil/human rights activist Eartha Kitt strikes a pose in stage make-up and costume at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC in early January, 1978. Kitt was playing the role of Shaleem-La-Lume in the musical, Timbuktu!. The play, a re-setting of the musical Kismet, trakes plays in Mali, West Africa, in 1361, and shows off lavish, opulent costumes. Kitt died at 81 on Christmas Day, 2008 |
