Valtoarea is an old peasant installation that uses the energy of the waters of the Cosau river to wash and thicken large fabrics. This ancestor of the whirlpool is made of conically laid boards, with sticks between them. The villagers put their especially thick woollen fabrics, the water flows strongly through the gutters spinning the clothes and cleaning them. The woollen fabric are made of wool and especially of woolen yarns having a fuzzy or napped face (as for use in clothing or blankets). |
