| The Alentejana breed has the protected geographical status of DOC, Denominação de Origem Controlada, from the European Commission. The cattle are energetic and gentle animals that in the recent past were used for work but now for beef production. The breed is found almost exclusively in both the high and low Alentejo regions. |
