Constantin Brancoveanu statue from Targoviste, Romania Constantin Brancoveanu (born 1654 - died August 15, 1714) was a great lord, ruler of Romanian between 1688 and 1714, and grandson of Prince Serban Cantacuzino. During the ruled, the Romanian country experienced a period of cultural flowering and the development of spiritual life. In 1714, on August 15, was executed in Istanbul, together with his four sons (Constantin, Stefan Radu and Matthew), as well as his counselor Ianache Văcărescu. We all are venerated by the Romanian Orthodox Church, as the Holy Martyrs Brâncoveni.
