It was the center of urban life in Bern, now it is a popular shopping street. It connects the Spitalgasse with the Kramgasse. It features the famous Schutzenbrunnen and Anna-Seiler-brunnen and lies between the Kafigturm and Zeitglockenturm. We can see the Zeitglockenturm in the back, towering over the Marktgasse. It once was a prison and a guard tower. It is one of the most famous buildings of Bern and a must-see. |
