In January 2018 UTSouthwestern launched the year-long recognition of its 75 years of compassionate patient care, leading-edge discovery, and exceptional education and training. Also seen are flying American and Texas flags, and a seven foot bronze statue of Donald Wayne Seldin MD 1920-2018 by renowned sculptor Zenos Frudakis. Seldin has been referred to as the `intellectual father of UT Southwestern Medical Center`, and transformed a school housed in a dilapidated barracks into a world renowned medical center.
