| Cadorna city terminus of the North Milan Railways in Italy is in the heart of the city historical centre. Although this is a busy intersection with cars, buses, trams, and an important metro stop, it has been made more people-friendly by Aulenti's design of the piazzale and station and by the addition of the colorful, humorous pop-art sculpture Ago, Filo and Nodo (in English Needle, Thread, and Knot). The oversize stainless needle jabs into the ground with a vari-colored thread looped around the diagonal. Opposite this strong vertical in a pool of water, the knot is seen bobbing to the surface. |
