It depicts a simple derrick hoisting logs, a reference to Seattle`s industrial past as a lumber port. Marco Polo di Suvero born September 18, 1933 is an abstract expressionist sculptor and 2010 National Medal of Arts recipient. The Olympic Sculpture Park, created and operated by the Seattle Art Museum, is a park that opened on January 20, 2007. It is a unique institution in the United States due to being a free admission outdoor sculpture park with both permanent and visiting installations.
