Gray cattle is a primitive breed widespread and used in our country since the distant past. The formation of this cattle on our lands took place under the influence of the migration of various ethnic groups. Initially, the peoples moving to the north from Asia brought the domesticated short-horned cattle with them to our lands. In later historical times, the peoples entering from the north - Slavs, Tatars, etc. they brought with them the long-horned domesticated cattle. The mixing of the two types of cattle led to the formation of the Bulgarian gray cattle with a predominance of long-horned cattle. It has a common origin with the other gray steppe cattle, Andalusian, Romagnola, etc.
