Monochoria elata Ridl. is a perennial aquatic herbaceous plant belonging to the Rainflower family and the Rainflower genus. It is naturally distributed in swamps and wetlands in tropical regions such as Thailand, Malaysia, and Myanmar. There is a natural population distribution in Hainan Island, China, and it can be artificially cultivated in southern China. The plant can reach a height of 1.7 meters, making it the tallest species in the genus Rainflower. Its basal leaves are oval shaped and heart-shaped, extending diagonally like a halberd. The blue purple inflorescence stands upright on the water surface, and the flowering period is concentrated in autumn, forming a sharp contrast with the summer flowering of the same genus, Yuhu Flower. Gaoqianyu Jiuhua has high ornamental value in wetland parks, artificial lakes and other water landscape construction, and is often planted in combination with aquatic plants such as flowering reed and water onion.
