Nicula Monastery is an Orthodox monastery (formerly Greek Catholic, not returned) located in the village of Nicula, Cluj County, near the city of Gherla. he Nicula Monastery is an important Christian pilgrimage center in Northern Transylvania, both Greek Catholic and Orthodox. The wooden church of the monastery, later the brick church (built during the time of the bishop of Gherla, Mihail Pavel), has housed over time the Icon of the Mother of God of Nicula painted in 1681 by the Ruthenian priest Luca of Iclod.
